Washing Wednesday ~ Borax

disclaimer: Thank You Purex insiders!!!!!  I was sent a free product of borax in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own

20 Mule Team Borax Review

Mommy in Ga (me!!) received this product via Purex insiders !! I love being part of this community and getting to try all these great products and best of all sharing all of my thoughts with ya'll!!!

I am not really sure where to start because there is so much you can do with this!!  I guess I will start where most of you think is the only place you can go, the Laundry room.....

Throw a little of this in with your clothes and it makes for a fresher load of clothes:
add a half of a cup and it will boost your regular detergent to clean better, while deodorizing also!
You can use it on:
 baby clothes
dedicates
laundry stains
and
help reduce the effects of hard water

Awe that's cute, you thought I was done!!!
Put a quarter of a cup in your toilet bowl, swish around your toilet brush and let it sit at least 30 minutes but as long as overnight
Clean your garbage disposal/drain by adding 2-3 tablespoons  and let it stand about 15 minutes and flush with water (with garbage disposal on if it applies)
tough carpet stains (add half a cup of borax to 1 pint water, sponge on , wait 30 minutes, rinse out well, let dry and vacuum)
Boost your dishwasher power also!!

Oh my goodness, we still have more options on where we can use Borax, this is GREAT!!!

Tile/Grout
Sinks
Pots/Pans (porcelain AND aluminum!!)
Clean your refrigerator
clean your oven
clean your microwave
stainless steal
fine china
garbage/diaper pail(those are rough to clean!!)
neutralizes mattress odors
outdoor furniture(plastic and metal!!)

These are just a few things you can do with it!  You can also make your own:
 laundry detergent
household cleaner
Well why don't I just give you a link to see a few other things you can do with the 20 mule team borax!!

I used the Borax in my laundry (horrible stains with 4 little ones!!) and I also cleaned my porcelain bathtub and my toilets with this, I LOVE it!!!

Washing Wednesday - Simple Green

disclaimer:  We received the items below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.
Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner
If you're like mommy in GA and mommy in PA you are constantly bombarded with ads about different kinds of cleaners and how one is better than the other, is safer than the other, works better than the other.  Well mommy in GA and mommy in PA recently got a chance to try Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner to see how we thought it performed compared to our normal cleaners.
Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner is an environmentally sensitive non-toxic cleaner/degreaser.  It has many uses from wiping down your countertops to cleaning up greasy tools (you can even use it to get out tough stains in your laundry).  This is a dilutable version that comes in three different sizes (24/32 oz., 67 oz., or 1 gal).  It is also biodegradable.
Mommy in GA and mommy in PA each received a 32 oz. bottle of cleaner with a spray bottle to mix our dilution in and here is what we thought:

Check out the handy dandy measuring lines that they put on the side of the bottle!!!

Mommy in GA:
I LOVE this product!!!!  I am what I call a distracted cleaner which means, I clean a little in this room and move to the next room and see stuff and clean that.  It used to take forever because I would have to keep walking through the house to get the right cleaning product....GRRR!!!
With Simple Green, I had the only cleaner I need for any room in the house!!! I just carry it with me in every room I go!!!

I go in my Kitchen and wipe the counters and then I look around and see dirty little finger prints on the doors of appliances so I spray my Simple Green and wipe them away but, then you look at the floor and see what they  have been dragging in (OR SPILLING!!!!) all day long! So then you spray the floor and wipe it away!  Well that is just the Kitchen, you then move to the bathroom and it cleans the counter top the floor the potty and the tub!!!Literally anything with a wipe-able surface you can clean it with Simple Green!!

Oh and HOLY COW, I almost forgot the best part!  You get to choose how strong you want your cleaner to be! Using the bottle pictured above you get to use the line and you can make a really strong product or a weaker one depending on what you are using it for :)

All around great product for everything I have used it for so far, Oh and the kids' don't say "EWWW what is that smell" (like when bleach or other harsh products are being used) they say "MMMMM what is that smell??!!"

This is a before and after of mommy in PA's table part of her couch....what a difference : )

Mommy in PA:  This is one of the best cleaning products I have used.  Not only do I love the cleaning power but I also love the scent (it smells kinda minty).  A lot of the other cleaners I've used seems like they leave a lot of residue, this on the other hand doesn't seem to leave any.  I was amazed at how well it cleaned my windows (no streaking either).  It's great to just be able to grab one cleaner and tackle everything in the house : )

Simple Green also carries a lot of other more specialty type cleaning products too.  Just head on over to their site and take a look.

Thanks to Simple Green one of our lucky readers will win their very own Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner.  For a chance to win just enter via the Rafflecopter form below.

StoryTime Sunday ~ little blessings Bedtime Stories and Prayers

disclaimer: Mommy in Ga received a free copy of this book from TyndaleHouse Publishers inc. In exchange for an honest review.....all opinions are my own

little blessings Bedtime Stories and Prayers
written by: Dandi Daley Mackall and Kathleen Long Bostrom
Illistrated by: Elena Kucharik

Mommy in Ga says: This is a story I loved sharing with my 4 little ones!!!!  It was great to read to them, let them read to me and they even read it to each other.

It is just  a great story (especially for little ones afraid of the dark) that God makes night time too....... To help reduce the fear.

It is not a really long book and the words are easy to read, which is what makes it great for the little ones!  The Illustration is adorable also :)

I'm sorry I don't really have a lot to say but, it was a really cute book and has a great message too :)  The kids' and I all enjoyed it and I think it would be great for you to share it with your family!

Thrifty Thursday - Make it yourself plant growth spray

Here's a simple recipe that if sprayed on your plants every 5-7 days is supposed to make them grow a lot.  I will be posting next week with the outcome of this experiment.

Start with one gallon of water ( I just used my mop bucket because of the ammonia in step two, didn't want to use anything we'd be eating/drinking out of).

Next add 1/2 tsp. Epsom salt (found in the health section) and 1 tsp. Ammonia (found in the cleaning section) to your gallon of water and stir it up.  note:  I was able to purchase these products for under $3 at WalMart.

Fill up a spray bottle with the mixture (use a brand new spray bottle so as not to end up with any chemical reactions).  Then spray your plants with the mixture (we sprayed it on everything but it may only be for peppers and tomatoes).  Just wait until next week's update and we'll let you know if it did anything negative to the other plants.

Here are the before pictures of my tomato and pepper plants.  I (mommy in PA) will take pictures again next week and measure the amount of growth : )  I received this version of the recipe from a friend a few years ago but never tried it out until another friend of mine said she tried water and just the Epsom salts and got great results...so we shall see.  I believe the ammonia may just be to keep critters from eating the plants.

If anyone else decides to try this out please comment below to let us know how it went.

Tasty Tuesday - Way Better Snacks

Disclaimer:  I received the products below for free in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

Way Better Snacks

"What do you get when you add sprouted whole grains, seeds & beans to a tortilla chip?  A Way Better Snack!" - quoted from the Way Better Snack bag : )

Way Better Snacks are different from your typical tortilla chip because they are made from sprouted whole grains.  There are a lot of healthy benefits that come from these sprouted grains such as increased vitamins and minerals, increased digestibility, and increased nutrient absorption.  Sprouting is all the rage in the healthy eating market right now.

These tortilla chips are also all natural, vegan, certified gluten free, non GMO, certified kosher, are an excellent source of whole grains (17g or more per serving), and low sodium (don't worry they don't taste like it).

Just look how pretty they are!

Mommy in PA got to try a variety of the Way Better tortilla chips and here are her thoughts:

Simply Unbeatable Blues Tortilla Chips:  I really expected to like these from my experience with other blue corn chips in the past but these just didn't taste good to me.  They are actually my least favorite of the ones I tried.  My daughter just thought they were too plain.

Simply Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips:  These were absolutely delicious!!!  My daughter and I both agree that these have the best flavor out of them all.  I didn't expect to like them all that much but they totally surprised me.

No Salt Naked Blue Tortilla Chips:  These were surprisingly tasty.  I never though a company could get away with a no salt tortilla chip but they managed to pull it off.  My daughter on the other hand thought these were too plain too.

Simply Sunny Multi-Grain Tortilla Chips:  My daughter and I both liked these ones.  We opened them first and had about half the bag gone before we even realized it.  YUM!!!

Simply Beyond Black Bean Tortilla Chips:  These too were amazingly good.  Not at all what I expected.  There is just a slightly odd taste right before you finish the chips but it's not too bad and it only lasts for a second.  Not quite an aftertaste but just before that : )  My daughter didn't care for these ones at all.

Simply So Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips:  Everyone in the household tried these except for my son...and everyone liked them.  These are way more flavorful than you expect a tortilla chip to taste.  No salsa necessary!

Thanks to Way Better Snacks one of our readers will get to try the same variety of chips that mommy in PA received.  For your chance to win just enter via the Rafflecopter form below.

becoming indigo

disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Hay House Inc. in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.
written by:
&

This is a book about a young girl who recently graduated high School.  Her name is indigo.  Indigo is not your average young adult, she can see and hear things that not everybody can.  She does not believe she has a great ability or that she can do anything with it, all of her friends are deciding what they want to do with the rest of their lives, where they want to go to school and what they want to do.  Indigo just wants to be independent and does that by moving out of her parents' house and into an apartment with her 2 friends'.

She goes through a lot and meets many people along the way both new and old friends'.  She goes through some  soul searching trying to find out what her calling is in life and figures out that you have to trust your self and follow your intuition, which not all of us do! The book really explains a lot about her inner self and some of the stuff you can take from this and help your self heal or move forward.  It is a fiction story their are ghosts and spirits, good and bad, but all in all some of the advice she gets is actually helpful!!

Indigo goes through some very hard times in the novel and always prevails by relying on her inner strength.  She is a strong character even when it seems like everything is falling apart, don't get me wrong she cries and all I am just saying she really pulls herself together, and she tries new things and seeks out information on furthering her education on her ability.  She also goes through up and downs like normal young adults, drugs, alcohol fear and abuse being a few of the things she runs into, but you mix that with the happiness and the new relationships she forms and you get a little bit f everything.

This was a must read for me I picked it up and it only took 2 days to read ( i think that is because there was laundry that needed done and kids' to be fed and occupied :))  I really enjoyed this novel and hope that you will check out the links above to check out the author pages and check out where you can buy the book.

StoryTime Sunday~When Mockingbirds Sing

disclaimer: I (mommy in Ga) received a free copy of this book from Thomas Nealson in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

When Mockingbirds Sing

Written by:Billy Coffey

This is a book based on believing, and I hate to say this but, I had a really hard time getting into this story.......at first!  I don't know if it was the 4 kids' , the chores, the dog, or just plain lack of concentration but, when I first started reading this book, i thought it was going to take forever to finish and I wasn't even sure I would finish BUT, then the book got really good and I caught myself staying up  WAY past my bedtime (while everyone else was asleep and quiet) and would keep saying to myself after this chapter I will go to sleep!

Chapter after chapter the book pulled me in more and it talks about the belief in the "maybe".  This book stars a little girl named Leah, she just turned 9 and moved to a new town.  Leah doesn't really have any friends until she meets "Rainbow Man" who, might I add only she can see.  She meets him at her birthday party and this happens shortly before she meets her one and only friend her age in town. Her father has the outcast Mr. Barney (his wife Mable and he own the run down toy store that everyone went to until Mable had a stroke and they were shunned by the town) build Leah an easel because she loves to paint.  The rainbow man helps Leah paint pictures that help some people and terrify most.  It is almost as though Leah can see the future and this scares the town people who are a god fearing group.

I don't want to say too much more, as I do not want to ruin the story for you but, I would strongly suggest this be a book that y'all pick up and read!!!It is a high emotion roller-coaster and you will not be sorry you picked it up!!!  Let me tell you I told you very basic info in my review because there is a lot that I did not mention because it is just too good to ruin!  You can look up the author by clicking the link above and the same goes for the book!

Mommy in PA received...

Mommy in Pa says:  Tie dye, mustache jewelry, mood jewelry...my 15 year old daughter and I were in heaven!!!!

The tie dye bag was my number one favorite item.  I actually took it with me to the flea market to carry all of our awesome finds in.  You wouldn't believe how many compliments I got on what a cute bag it is.  I also love that the book bag has a lot of pockets to organize your items.

My daughter's favorite thing was the heart shaped peace sign necklace.  She scarfed it up as soon as I opened the box and I had to get it back off of her to take the picture.  She also claimed the purple bead bracelet (which ended up breaking but instead of beads flying everywhere it had been knotted on both ends so we were easily able to repair it).
Great products and great quality too, can't beat that!

Mommy In Ga received:
(On a side note: I went to get more pictures of the products for the post today and I would just like to tell ya'll all the products disappeared to the sleep over the kids went to :)  )

Mommy in Ga says:
Me and my girls' couldn't wait to see what was going to be in the Top Trenz box!!! When we opened it and found gear for sllepovers' and swimming we were super excited!!

My 7 year old staked claim on the t-shirt ( I actually have to remind her that she needs to change it so it can be washed lol!!) and also the slippers (but, my 8 year old snags them also!)

My 8 year old staked claim on the BLUE (her favorite color) drawstring tye dye tote bag! Excellent to pack up pj's and slippers to take on a sleepover!

My 10 year old got the watch and loves that the hands glow in the dark and it has peace signs (ADORABLE!!!!)

We also received a "wetbag" and we actually take that when we go to the pool, to put wet bathing suits in!!

All of the products are very "trendy" and really cute!! It has been a blast working with the high quality products also!!
Thanks to Top Trenz, one of our lucky readers will get to go on a $150 shopping spree on their website!  Enter below for your chance to win (note: you must "like" Top Trenz on Facebook to enter this drawing).

StoryTime Sunday ~ Wishing On Willows

Wishing on Willows - Katie Ganshert

disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from waterbrook press  in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own

Wishing on Willows

Wishing on Willows is a fantastic novel written by Katie Ganshert and is also the sequel to the novel Wildflowers from Winter (which for the record is definitely on my list of  books I must read!)

I would like to start this storytime by saying, PLEASE don't do this backwards like I did!!!  If you read this post and are interested read some reviews on Wildflowers from winter so that you can read them in order!!! Ok now onto the review of the book I did read!

Wishing On Willows is about a young mother of a 3 year old boy who runs and owns her own cafe in a small town, Peaks.  Her name is Robin Price and you learn all too fast that her cafe is struggling and it turns out she is a widow and trying to make ends meet, keep her business afloat and raise her 3 year old to the best of her ability.  She has her sister-in-law living with her and she helps out when she can with both her nephew and Robins cafe.  Her best friend is also married to her brother-in-law and lives close by on a farm.

They talk about the cafe a lot and Robin keeping it afloat and then out of nowhere a hotshot business man shows up from the city and is trying to get her to sell or shut her down so they can build condos for the upcoming factory workers.  Long story short  as if Robin didn't have enough on her plate but, now she is trying to save her cafe (which I need to mention became a dream of her and her husbands when they were on their honeymoon) and now she has a whole new set of worries to keep her up at night.  This story will make you laugh and cry it is about the depth of friendship, love, fear,  relationships, mourning, moving on and being strong.  You get to see all the aspects of what she is going through and how she is growing throughout the story.

The storyline is following the major events of Ian (he is the city developer), Amanda (Robin's sister-in-law)  and Robin and it tells you about the trials they have been through and how those trials had made them act the way they do.

I hate to write too much because it is such a great story about how to overcome the trials in your life and keeping faith even if you have nothing else.   I would just like y'all to keep in mind how wonderful I thought the book was and that I am definitely going to read Wildflowers From Winter also!

Funky Friday ~Greentoys

disclaimer: I did receive the following product for free in exchange for an honest review all opinions however are my own.

green toys

green toys  are a a high quality toy company, and the toys are made HERE in the good ol' USA!!!!!!Ever wonder what happens to the milk jugs you recycle?!  Your kids might be playing with them right now!! The toys are made primarily out of plastic, the milk jugs you recycle are then sent to green toys and they are cleaned and processed to make your babies toys :)  To date they have recycled almost 15 million milk jugs!!! I'd like to think quite a few of these toys come from the milk my little ones go through, which is A LOT!!!!!To find out more info either visit the link above and/or check out this video below!!

We received the tool set pictured at the top!!  We got this right before my little boys' 4th birthday, we were so excited that we could not wait until then to open it!!  We opened the product maybe 5 minutes after the ups man left!!!  My little man is not one to easily occupied with toys'  He gets distracted by all the cool stuff on TV and the stuff laying around the house that is not for him!  So, you could imagine my surprise when we opened this tool set and for a WHOLE half hour he was not right behind me asking for a new show or for a snack or needing something else, you know how they do.  He sat there and hammered the nails into the board (which was included) used the screwdriver to drive the screws (obviously!!)  sawed the boards and wrenched the nuts and bolts, everything included was tucked away in the adorable yet manly tool box included!  Every bit of the toys were made of high quality recycled plastic, and the outside packaging looked as though it too was made of recycled material also!

Maybe Monday - Ozeri Cardio Tech Premium Digital Blood Pressure Monitor

disclaimer:  Mommy in PA received the following item via Tomoson in exchange for her honest opinions.  All opinions remain her own.

Ozeri Cardio Tech Premium Series BP3T Digital Arm Blood Pressure Monitor

We've all been there before, you are at your doctors office and they need to take your blood pressure.  Afterwards the kind nurse tells you the reading but doesn't tell you what the numbers mean.  I do remember learning about it at school but that was quite a few years ago...lol.

Well wonder no more because now you can test your own blood pressure at home or on the go anytime you like.  Ozeri's Cardio Tech Premium Series BP3T Digital Arm Blood Pressure Monitor makes it extremely simple to check your own blood pressure and it actually lets you know what the results mean.

This blood pressure monitor is jam packed with a ton of features.  I will try to touch on all of them at some point during my review but if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments section below.

Here is what comes in the package:  Ozeri BP3T monitor, adult sized arm cuff (22-36cm), instruction manual, carrying bag (very handy), and 4 AAA batteries.  Also comes with a 5 year warranty!

The monitor is very self explanatory and was super easy to operate.  You just plug the cuff hose into the monitor, apply the cuff to whomever you are checking, press the start button, and wait for your result to appear on the easy to read LCD screen.  This doesn't take long at all either because of the MWI (measure while inflate) technology.  The display shows the obvious Systolic and Diastolic blood pressures along with your pulse rate and has a niffty little beating heart that shows up in the corner.  It also will alert you if the subject is moving around or if they happen to have an irregular heart beat.  All very handy features!

I love the fact that they set this up to accommodate multiple users.  They have a user A and user B slider on the monitor which will store up to 60 readings per user.  All you do is slide the slider to user A or user B before testing.  You can also get your blood pressure averages (it uses the results of your last three readings).

So to sum it up...it was super easy to operate ( I have never used a blood pressure monitor myself before this review),  I love that it can be taken anywhere with you, it is super easy to understand what the results mean, and it looks cool too : )

If you are interested in purchasing one of these portable blood pressure monitors of your very own you can head over here.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
