Eco Lips

Mommy in GA and Mommy in PA recently got a chance to try Eco Lips.  If you haven't heard, Eco Lips makes a huge variety of organic lip balms.  So not only are you keeping your lips soft, you are also helping yourself and the environment in the process.  Eco lips was kind enough to let us each choose the lip balm products that we wanted to try out.

Mommy in GA chose:
Eco Lips Energy:
When you put the Ecolips Energy on you get a revitalizing tingling sensation and it does not have the odd after taste you get when you use some of those other lip balms.
Picture of Eco Lips Energy Lip Balm

I also received the Eco Lips gold with an Ecoclip!  This was very handy as I could attach my lip balm to my key chain!!  All these little ones, I remember what they need and forget half my stuff but attached to the keys it is difficult to forget that winter necessity!!!!

Another thing I love about the Eco Lips is that it is an organic product, but, when you apply it you would never know that it works as good, if not better than your run of the mill Lipbalm or chap stick!!!

Mommy in PA chose the Restore Soothing Lip Balm and the Honest Kids in Tropical Mango Punch.
The kids and I loved both of these but we all preferred the scent of the Tropical Mango Punch.  I was very impressed at the lasting ability of both.  Even for those prone to licking their lips these stayed on quite well.  You can actually feel a barrier over your lips unlike some of the competitors that seem to wear off super quick.

To find out more about Eco Lips you can view their site here, follow them on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter.  One lucky winner will receive an Eco Lips Gold Balm on Eco Clip, you can enter via the Rafflecopter form below.

Chris Mann "Roads"

Chris Mann Roads Album

Mommy in PA says:  I was super excited when I got the email that I had been chosen to preview the Chris Mann Roads Album from One2One Network.  I am always looking for new tunes to listen to but usually have a hard time finding music that I really enjoy.  This was not the case with the Roads album.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Chris Mann, about a year ago Chris was competing on The Voice and now he is releasing his major label debut.  A pretty amazing feat for the singer who likes to mix classical music with other genres to create a unique style all his own.

The Roads album is comprised of the following songs:
"Roads" (produced by Keith Thomas)  This is the song that really makes you understand what the whole album is about.
"I Need You Now" (his version of Lady Antebellum's song)
"Cuore"  (Chris co-wrote this one based on Bach's "Air on a G String")
"The Blower's Daughter"  (Chris sings with Christina Aguilera)
"My Way"  (Paul Anka reworked this for Chris so that instead of it being about a man looking back on his life it was a young man looking hopefully ahead)
"Unless You Mean it"
"Always on My Mind"  (Made famous by Willie Nelson)
"On a Night Like This"
"Ave Maria"
"Falling"  (Chris co-wrote this one)
"Viva La Vida"  (A widescreen take on Coldplay's anthem)

To get a preview of the songs you can go here.

After listening to each of these songs over and over this weekend here is what I thought:  Chris has a voice that really gets to you.  I know a song is good when it can give you chills.  Needless to say most of these were in that category.   I typically don't care for remakes of songs but his were beautiful.  He really puts his own unique spin on everything he sings.  Another thing I really liked is that my children even liked listening to his music.  I listen to a bit of everything but normally my family doesn't listen to anything even close to classical except close to Christmas time (this will be a great exception).  I love how he puts so much emotion into his songs, you can really feel what he has been through.

The album is being released on 10/30.  You can order the album through Itunes or Amazon.  And to find out more about Chris you can check out chrismannmusic.com.

Disclaimer:  I received the above album for free from One2One Network.  I am also being entered into a drawing for posting my review of the album.  All opinions in the above post are my own.

Thrifty Thursday (Budget Gadgets)

Budget Gadgets

Are you looking for a great gift idea but don't want to spend a ton of money?  Then you should check out BudgetGadgets.com.  They have a huge variety of items and they have low prices too.  Mommy in GA and mommy in PA spent hours trying to decide what items we wanted to review.
If you are looking for some great Halloween costume accessories and don't want to spend an arm and a leg than you should check them out.

Puzzle Box

Mommy in PA says:  I chose a puzzle box for my review item.  It sells for $3.31 which is a great deal for the entertainment value.  It was so funny watching my family try to figure out how to get into this thing.  I think I'll order a couple of these to use as Christmas gifts and shove money inside then just sit back and watch the hilarity ensue.
I was very impressed at the huge variety of items on the site.  There is literally something for everyone on there.  I would have showed more pictures of my puzzle box but it would have given the solution away.

Mommy in GA says:
I chose to do the silicone protective cover for the wii controllers. These are priced at $3.64, to protect your wii controllers, that is a small price to pay!!
Above: Is a picture of my poor bland and boring wii controller :(

Above: Is a picture of my new and improved (also well protected!!) wii controller!!
While the ones from Budget Gadget are not as cushy as your other options, my kids' are rough on stuff and I couldn't beat the price.  Even if it doesn't last long (which I will keep you posted, I am pretty optimistic.) It has already lasted a month and that must be some kind of record here!! (LOL)

Spooktacular Week - Day 3 Tanner's Tasty Paste

Keeping with our Halloween theme this week and sticking with our normal washing Wednesdays we figured today would be a great day to talk about brushing our teeth.  We all know how important that is come Halloween time with all the extra sweets around.  And that is why we are talking about Tanner's Tasty Paste today!

To give you a little background of Tanner's Tasty Paste:
Dr.Janelle Holden is the mastermind behind Tanner's Tasty Paste! Her love of dentistry started when she was a young girl, and her career started as a Dental Hygienist in a successful pediatric dental practice in Beverly Hills, California.
From there she returned to the University Of Southern California School Of Dentistry where she earned her dental degree. After that completed her post doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at USC, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and Miller's Children's Hospital of Long Beach at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Holden now has a thriving practice in Manhattan Beach, California, devoted  to the treatment of children, from infants to teens. She is dedicated to providing quality care for all children including apprehensive children and those with special needs.
Her close interaction with children led her to the flavors the children responded to best and helped her create the Tasty flavors for Tanner's Tasty Paste!! If the toothpaste tastes better, your kids' will brush their teeth more and more frequently, If that happens your kids' have less cavities and less cavities mean happier and healthier trips to the dentist!!
I think all of us as parents' should thank Dr.Janelle Holden, so THANK YOU!!!!

Tanner's Tasty Paste comes in 3 different flavors':
Cha Cha Chocolate
Banilla Bling
and
Baby Bling

Mommy in Ga received the Banilla Bling:  I used this for my girls, ages 9 years, 7 years and 6 years.  I was a little nervous because my girls' are very picky, our toothpaste is too hot(spicy if you take the word of my 6 year old!!) or it taste funny or the texture is wrong, etc....  you catch the drift lol!!  Anyway I got the Tanner's Tasty Pate and told the girls' that we were going to try something new.

At first I got the expected complaining, "we hate the toothpaste you buy, you never buy anything we like" so I pulled the Tanner's Tasty Paste out of the box and showed the girls' the tubes.  They were excited already about the tubes because they are cool, they have pictures and are cartoony to draw them in and then when they tasted it they were excited because it tasted better than any of the toothpaste I brought home before!

Another great thing about the Tanner's Tasty Paste is that for the Banilla Bling it is a Vanilla Ice Cream flavor with xylitol (a cavity reducing natural sweetener) No Saccharin(which is an artificial sweetener)  No sodium lauryl sulfate, Gluten free.  So the Tanner's Tasty Paste is a natural alternative to the toothpaste that has the warning labels that do use these products!

Mommy in Ga also received the Baby Bling to review:  I used this for my 3 year old little boy.  He like the other kids' was not fond of many of the other tooth paste but, he did enjoy the Baby Bling!  This is also vanilla ice cream flavored, who wouldn't want to brush their teeth with vanilla ice cream??!!

Baby Bling is a Non-foaming product that DOES NOT contain fluoride, saccharin or sodium lauryl sulfate.
Also if you are like me and read the labels on your products, the warning where most toothpaste companies put on there do not let your child swallow this product, WHAT??!! They are putting it in their mouths, how do you keep them from swallowing it?! Anyway on Tanner's Tasty Paste Baby Bling it is safe to swallow which is reassuring because your little ones are more likely to swallow it!

To find out more about Tanner's Tasty Paste or to get some of your very own click here.

On that note I would like to end my review with the statement:  We will be giving 1 lucky winner a tube of the Tanner's Tasty Paste Banilla Bling and also 1 Tube of Tanner's Tasty Past Baby Bling so make sure you sign up for that contest below via rafflecopter!!!

disclaimer:  I did receive a tube of Tanner's Tasty Paste Banilla Bling and also a tube of Tanner's Tasty Paste Baby Bling in exchange for an honest review and ALL opinions are my own.

Spooktacular Week - Day 2

Sun Cups by Seth Ellis Chocolatier

So we are pretty sure that almost everyone we know knows someone who suffers from a peanut or other nut allergy these days.  This is something we really need to consider when purchasing products for our children to hand out at school or for us to hand out to trick-or-treaters.  That is where Sun Cups by Seth Ellis Chocolatier come in very handy.

These chocolate cups are nut free, gluten free, and organic.  They come in four varieties (Milk Chocolate Sunflower Butter, Dark Chocolate Sunflower Butter, Dark Chocolate with mint, and Milk Chocolate with Caramel.

Mommy in GA and Mommy in PA were lucky enough to get to sample every flavor and here is what we thought of them:

Mommy in GA: OK so I got to try these with my four little ones and if your kids' are anything like mine, everything chocolate goes!!!!

We got to try the caramel milk chocolate: The kids' and I absolutely love this one!!! It was delicious!!

Milk chocolate sunflower butter:  The kids' thought this one was good ( I did not get any of that one lol)

Dark chocolate sunflower butter: This one was not a family favorite but, we are not huge fans of dark chocolate so it wasn't the candy!!

Dark chocolate with mint: This one was actually my 9 year olds favorite BUT she is a mint lover and also said it would have been better if it wasn't dark chocolate (but, again not lovers' of the dark chocolate!!)

Mommy in PA:  I tried them along with my 14 year old daughter and 7 year old son.  The first ones we tried were the caramel.  My daughter thought they were just OK but my son and I both thought these were very delicious.  The next ones we tried were the mint.  I was the only one who actually liked these but my son despises mint in any form, he doesn't even use mint toothpaste.  Next we tried the milk chocolate sunflower butter ones.  These were a huge hit with my daughter.  I initially thought it was gross but after I chewed it up I realized it was quite tasty.  My son thought it wasn't very good.  Last we tried the dark chocolate sunflower butter.  We got surprising results from this one...my son loved them and my daughter and I didn't.  All and all I was very pleased with the outcome as everyone found at least one flavor they liked which is one step closer to healthier snacking.

To find out more about Sun Cups you can check out their site here.  Also be sure to check out the awesome deal on the sampler (comes with one of each flavor) for $1.99 and it also comes with a discount coupon!

Spooktacular Week - Day 1

Mommy in GA and mommy in PA are all about new, fun products for Halloween so we were super excited when we found out about this wonderful new lip product from Softlips!  Softlips introduced a new flavor for Halloween called Marshmallow Ghost.  They are sold together with the Vanilla and can be found in the checkout lanes of Target stores nationwide.
Mommy in GA and mommy in PA both got their own pack to try and here is what we thought:

Mommy in GA:I got to try these and I absolutely LOVE them!!  I keep one in my car and I also keep one in my purse.  I don't have a favorite, I really like both flavors and they really do make my lips feel softer and the flavors smell good BUT, do not have the bad after taste some of your lip glosses leave!!
The packaging is festive and very eye catching, which if you know these moneysavingmommies, you know that is a big deal!!! We are all about eye catching, pretty packages that are super easy to find, grab, and get outta dodge!!! lol!!!!

Mommy in PA:  My 14 year old daughter and I both tried both lip balms.  I really liked both of them and especially the Marshmallow Ghost because I really love marshmallows.  My 14 year old daughter liked them so much that I can't even find them right now as they disappeared into her room (she always takes my cool stuff).  We like that they are SPF 20 too because it's one more way we can protect ourselves from sun damage without even having to think about it.

To find out more about the new Softlips Marshmallow Ghost you can check them out at softlips.com or on their facebook page here.

And now for the best part, thanks to the generous folks at Softlips, two of our readers will receive their very own two-pack of Vanilla/Marshmallow Ghost.  Enter via the Rafflecopter form below for your chance to win!

Storytime Sunday (Pushing Upward)

"Pushing Upward"

by:  Andrea Adler

The Storyline:  It's 1974 and 21 year old aspiring actress Sandra Billings is in a very confusing place in her life.  She is working so hard at being an actress but nothing seems to be working out for her.  Her and her friend Rachel decide to try out the I Ching (an ancient Chinese oracle) to help decide the correct path to take.

We witness Sandra attempting to find a place to stay when she is evicted from her apartment.  She places an ad and uses the I Ching to help her decide what to do.  There is quite a bit of humor in this part of the story.  She ends up with an elderly woman whom she stays with in exchange for cooking and cleaning.

Sandra's career is slow to progress but once it does it really goes quickly.  She meets connections through Emma (the elderly lady) who help her break into the acting scene.  She also meets a couple of men and again the I Ching has influence on her decisions.

Here is what mommy in PA thought of the book:  I really liked it.  It was easy to read and the chapters are all super short which is helpful when you pace yourself like I do when reading.  There were only a couple of spots about 3/4 of the way though the book where I was bored and it only lasted for a couple of pages.

I love how the author doesn't make Sandra seem like some stuck up and snobby person.  She has issues with her past and also food binge issues that she deals with throughout the book.

I really like the character Emma.  She is so wise and knowledgeable which is just the opposite of the main character.  The two characters work well together.

The author takes you through a great range of emotions in the book too.  There is comedy, excitement, and sadness.  You never know what is going to happen next.  Just when you think everything is going good for Sandra something comes out of nowhere to leave you guessing.

This is a great book for anyone looking to learn more about how things go in the theatre business or who are interested in the I Ching (there is a section all about it in the back of the book).  Great entertaining read!

To order your own copy of "Pushing Upward" you can do so by going here.

Disclaimer:  I received this book for free from Hay House Book Nook in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions remain my own.

Spa Time Saturday (Senteur Exotics)

Senteur Exotics

Mommy in PA says:  Now that the seasons are changing and we're going to be spending more time indoors now is the time I tend to focus on finding the best scent to incorporate in my living space to make it more cozy for the fall.

For the past month I have been trying out some products from Senteur Exotics for fall.  I received the room spray in French Vanilla and body wash and soap in the Honey Almond Kiss scent.

First I would like to talk about my favorite item, the French Vanilla Room Spray.  This is not your typical run of the mill room spray, this stuff really works.  I typically spray it in my living room in the morning when I am tidying up and the scent actually lingers well into the evening.  It took my family a little while to get used to the scent as they don't get home until late in the afternoon and by then our normal room sprays had already lost their strength.  As a matter of fact, my hubby thought that there was something on fire in our house when he got home the first night I had used it.  After I had him smell the bottle he said that had to be what he had smelled.  This comes in very handy when you have pets!

And another great thing about the Senteur  Exotic Room Sprays is that they are only $5.  What a great, inexpensive way to transition your home for the seasons.

The next item I want to talk about is the Honey Almond Kiss Soap.  This soap is made from 100% pure and natural grade A honey and essential oils to leave your skin feeling nice and soft.  Just the sight makes you know you are going to have a body pampering experience.  I love how fancy the soap looks and a 5 oz. bar only costs $5 and lasts a very long time.  These would make wonderful gift ideas for the holidays.  I also love the fact that the soaps also come in their very own Sissal bag (so cute).

The last item I will be talking about is the Honey Almond Kiss Body Scrub.  Now this stuff works wonderfully but it did take me awhile to appreciate the scent.  The scent is stronger in the scrub than in the soap I had mentioned prior.  Using the scrub and the soap together has left my skin very soft and smooth.  This also works wonders on rough patches of skin and also worked great for cleaning my hands when I had grass stains and dirt on them from cleaning up my flower bed.  And the scent did eventually grow on me and now I really like it.  The body scrub comes in an 8 oz. container for $10.

Senteur Exotics makes a full line of natural products including lotion, body wash, body scrub, soaps, room sprays, and candles.  All items come in a variety of exotic scents.  To find out more about Senteur Exotics or to purchase some of your own you can click here to be taken to their homepage.

Glade Expressions Collection (Mommy in PA)

I recently received coupons from Bzzagent to help me spread the word about the new Glade Expressions Collection campaign.  If you want more information on Bzzagent or to sign up to be a Bzzagent you can go here

My first shopping experience to get my Glade Expressions product went terribly.  I headed to our local Walmart to get my free diffuser and spray.  My seven year old and I searched high and low on the shelves to find the diffusers.  I was just about ready to give up when my son spotted what we believed was the the diffuser.  Well we got it and a room spray and when we got home I was shocked to see that I had wasted my coupon on a refill for the diffuser...I was not very happy.

I decided that I would just use one of my $4 off coupons to pick up the diffuser the next time we went to the store.  I set up my diffuser refill and was a little upset when it didn't have the strength of scent I had expected.  The next day I looked at it closely and realized I had not pushed the wick into the base far enough, after that it smelled wonderful.

I didn't get very lucky on my room spray purchase either.  I must have a faulty one because it doesn't spray every time and when it does it is almost like it's raining instead of a mist.  I discussed this with my niece and my one friend and they both said that theirs worked fine.

The scents are very nice.  I purchased the room spray in Pineapple & Mangosteen and the original refill I had was the same scent because it was the only one they had.  When I got my actual diffuser at Kmart I purchased the Lavender & Juniper Berry.  I liked both scents but the Lavender one a little bit better.  They also come in Cotton & Italian Mandarin (wish I could have found this variety but it only comes in the spray) and Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice.  I can't wait to get some more refills for my diffuser.

In the end I am very happy with the diffuser and will be getting myself another room spray after this one is empty to see if I can get a good working one this time.  The scents are great and I love how the scent not just covers the odors but also eliminates them.  This comes in very handy when you have pets!

Glade Expressions Kit (mommy in Ga)

I was so excited to receive my coupon book from BzzAgent for the Glade Expressions BzzKit!!!!!
The Glade Expressions come in either the diffuser kit OR the Spray.

They come in 4 different fragrances:

The fugi apple & cardamom spice (my personal FAVORITE!!!!)

lavender & juniper berry

pineapple & mangosteen

cotton and italian manderin (this only comes in the spray version)

As described above the fuji apple & cardamom spice is my absolute favorite!!! You can use the spray everywhere and put your diffuser in your favorite room and the fragance will just take over the room, in a good way not overwhelming!!  I have a miniature pinscher and boy is he a smelly puppy when he gets out, but, with the glade expressions you hardly notice the smell of the dog!!

I really think this is a great product because you can use it all the time and you don't always have to think about it!! If you use your diffuser then you always have a good smell and it lasts up to 30 days! With the spray I bought 2 starter kits (My first kit for the diffuser and the spray were free through the BzzAgent BzzKit and the other starter kits were deeply discounted!!) One for the front of my house and one for the back of the house!

Every time I spray, the kids say: "mmm mommy the house smells really good!!"

Another thing I would like to mention is that if you live near a Target you can get really good savings whether you have a coupon or not!!  I don't know about the other retailers but, at Target the diffuser kits were 5 something and the spray starter kits were 2.99  and the refills were 3 something for the diffuser and 1.99 for the spray so with glade being awesome about coupons even if you save a dollar I would say it is money well spent!!!

disclaimer:  I received a coupon book for free and large discounted glade expression starter kits through BzzAgent and all opinions are my own. The image below was given to me through BzzAgent and glade.

Tasty Tuesday (Healthy Choice Greek Frozen Yogurt)

Are you in the mood for a tasty treat but want to avoid all the fat that normally comes along with frozen treats?  If so, you may want to try the new Healthy Choice Greek Frozen Yogurt.  There are four flavors to choose from (Vanilla Bean, Blueberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry).  Each pack comes with three individual cups of frozen yogurt each sealed with a foil peel off lid.  The yogurt is made with yogurt cultures, has no artificial flavors and is made with real fruit.  It also is only 100 calories per serving and packs in 4 grams of protein.  And what about the fat you ask, 1.5 total grams of fat per serving which consists of 1 gram of saturated fat.

Mommy in GA and Mommy in PA had a chance to try some and here is what we thought:

Mommy in GA says:We received the Strawberry and the Raspberry!! We were so excited when the box came and the kids couldn't wait to try it!!
My 9 year old said:  "It was very tasty.  I got to try both and I thought that the Strawberry was the best, but the raspberry was good too."

My 7 year old says:"They were AWESOME!!  I don't have a favorite, they were both SO good!!"

She also asked if when i see them at the store if I could buy them.HAHA
The other 2 also tried them and liked them but, declined to give me any feedback lol.  All in all I think that they were a huge hit in the household!!!

Mommy in PA says:  We also received the strawberry and raspberry.  My seven year old and I both thought that it was quite tasty.  There is a little bit of an aftertaste but it disappears pretty quickly.  My 14 year old daughter did not care for it because it had seeds in it and she is just really picky about that kind of stuff.  I love how it comes in the little single serving containers because my son is a type 1 Diabetic and we have to carb count everything, this makes it so much easier!
