Poo~Pourri

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.
Poo~Pourri

Product Manufacturer:  Poo~Pourri
Product Use:  Spray in the toilet before you go and avoid leaving a stinky bathroom.
Product Features:  Easy to use spray bottle. Comes in various sizes, 4 oz. to keep in your home or office and 2 oz. to keep in your purse when you are on the go. And no harsh chemicals.
Price:  $9.95 for the 2 oz., $14.95 for the 4 oz., $24.95 for the 8 oz., and $29.95 for the 16 oz.  They also sell kits from anywhere between $9.95 to $44.95 that include multiple products.
Misc:  They have a large variety of scents to choose from.
Mommy in Ga:  I heard about Poopourri before we got to try it, My sister had gotten some (carried it in her purse on the go and everything!!) and told me how much she LOVED it! So when  we got the chance to work with them we jumped right on it!!!

I used this at my house, NO more stink when the little ones use the toilet, YAY!!!  My 9 year old was using everyday when she had to make a stink!!  She said boy mommy that stuff smells good!!!  Then I moved it out of their bathromm and she yellled from the bathroom, "Mommy the poopurri is MISSING and I NEED it!!!"

I also reviewed this at my work ( I work in the school cafeteria) ALL of the ladies were wanting to get some, so hopefully I will get a discount code that we can share with ALL of you!!!!

Mommy in PA:  I just want to start out by mentioning that the sayings on the bottles are absolutely hilarious!!!  Everyone I talked to in the days shortly after receiving the Poo~Pourri got to hear the funny sayings...my kids were even spreading the word : )

We received the diaper pail spray, the original Poo~Pourri, Party Pooper, and Poo-Tonium.  I gave the diaper pail spray to my sister-in-law and she said it worked perfectly. The original scent reminds me a lot of the cream cheese mints that my mom used to make.  It is a very pleasant fragrance.  The Party Pooper seems to be a bit stronger than the original, I imagine they did that because of all the people that will be using it at a party.  The Poo-Tonium is the strongest that they make (this is what we make my hubby use when he heads to the bathroom).

All three of them work wonderfully.  Stupid me didn't read everything before the first couple of uses and we couldn't figure out why it wasn't working that well.  We were only spritzing it once in the bowl instead of spraying a few times to coat the water.  Be sure you get a film across the whole bowl for optimal results : )

Oh and on a side note, remove the charms from your spray bottles before using them.  I ended up losing one in my toilet : (

I've been telling a lot of people about the Poo~Pourri and how effective it is, not to mention they can really save you some embarrassment in public restrooms.

Promo Code for 15% off your order is B1312MOM valid until 01/31/2014!!!

Valor Chocolates

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.
Valor Chocolates

Valor Chocolates has been around for over 130 years.  They started out as a small family owned business and have grown to be Spain's largest chocolate company.  They specialize in a sugar-free chocolate that taste like their traditional chocolates (Stevia is the key).  They use cocoa beans from Ecuador, Panama, and Ghana to get their distinct flavor, along with whole Marcona almonds.
It is amazing how this company started.  Valeriano Lopez started selling his family's homemade chocolates in 1881.  He would travel via mule all around Eastern and Central Spain.  Valeriano's son took over the family business in the late 19th century and replaced the old stome mill with a mechanical mill and mules with horse-drawn carriages to up production and sales volume.  Today, Valor is one of the largest Spanish chocolate companies, making over ten thousand tons of chocolate a year.
Mommy in GA and mommy in PA got the opportunity to try a sampling of Valor Chocolates and here are our thoughts:
We received the following bars (Valor Sugar Free Dark Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds, Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds, Valor Sugar Free 72% Dark Chocolate w/ Cocoa Nibs, and Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Hazelnut Mousse.
Mommy in GA: These are one of THE best chocolates I have ever had!!!!!!

We got Valor Sugar Free Dark Chocolatewith Marcona Almonds, Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Macrona Almonds, Valor Sugar Free 72 % Dark Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs and Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Hazelnut Mousse.

My favorite was, well I am not going to lie I REALLY liked all of them! This really surprised me because I normally do not like Dark Chocolate at all BUT, My ABSOLUTE favorite was the Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Marcona Almonds.

The kids' enjoyed ALL of them and each of the 4 picked a different one as their favorite so you could say they are ALL a favorite in our house :)  Best part is NONE of the kids realized the lack of sugar and that is saying something!!!

Mommy in PA:  These were absolutely delicious.  My favorite was the Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds.  My daughter preferred the one with the Hazelnut because she isn't a huge fan of nuts in candy bars.  My son's favorite was the Sugar-Free ones because of how low in carbs they were.  For once he was actually able to have a whole candy bar for his bedtime snack (he is only allowed 24 carbs) so this worked out great.

There was one thing that surprised me though...my son did not care for the dark chocolate with nibs.  He actually traded part of his candy bar for some pretzels.
I just couldn't get over how great the dark chocolate tasted and how the Sugar Free and No Sugar Added varieties tasted just like there was real sugar in there.  You don't get that nasty aftertaste like you do from all other sugar-free food items.  Stevia must really taste like real sugar : )
For more information or to buy some Valor Chocolates of your very own you can head over to www.ValorChocolate.com, www.amazon.com/grocery, www.worldwidechocolate.com/Valor, or www.tienda.com

Mommy in GA: We received the cards and ALSO the Book!!  My 9 year old LOVES to draw and doodle and anything else that has to do with paper and any kind of writing utensil!

I gave the Zentangle a try and it did ease the tension of life while I was drawing, I need alot more practice with it before I show yall my talent (or lck there of!!!)

My 9 year old has taken possession of the Yoga for the Brain cards and also the Zentangle book!!  She has really enjoyed the new aspects of drawing and told me that she feels much calmer when she draws with them!

The one above is her favorite so far!

Mommy in PA:  My daughter scarfed the cards up right after I opened the package.  I actually had to get them back off of her to take the picture...lol.  She took them to her room and we didn't hear from her for about three hours.  That is very rare in this house because she usually needs food or drinks on a pretty regular basis once she gets home from school.

She said she had a lot of fun but wasn't happy with how some of hers turned out.  She said she was having a hard time getting her shading to look right, I told her that it probably takes a little practice just like anything else.  Above is a sampling of the pictures she did : )

Our Top Twelve for November (Just a little late...oopsie)

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.
Our Top Twelve
This month our pick for the Top Twelve List is....
Skoy

You can see our previous post about Skoy here

This time they sent us the Skoy Scrub.  These are made from cotton and non-toxic hardener.  These take the place of your traditional scouring pads and are best cleaned on the top rack of your dishwasher.  They are reusable thus saving you money : )
Now here are our thoughts about the Skoy Scrub they sent us this time:
Mommy in GA:Skoy did not make our Top Twelve by accident!!!  If you read our previous review on skoy you know that we LOVE them!! They came in handy for all kinds of cleaning!!

Then we wrote to Skoy to let them know that they were one of our favorites and learned that they had expanded the handiness!!! They added the Skoy Scrub!!!  This is great because I hate when you have a mess you have to soak or douse in cleaner and then on top of all that you have to use a good amount of elbow grease...yuck!

With the Skoy Scrub you have an abrasive cloth that is not hard on your surfaces! I have used them from the bathroom (you can find it in the designated bathroom cleaner area, you don't want to use those anywhere else after cleaning in there!!) to my Kitchen, the counters, floors, sinks, walls, and anything you can think of in between, barely any cleaner and a little elbow grease and your surface is cleaner than with your other products!

Definately still in the top 12!

The before picture of mommy in PA's bathroom sink after the softener didn't get changed out quickly enough and an orange buildup started.

The after picture of mommy in PA's bathroom sink after using just the Skoy Scrub and no cleaning solution : )
Mommy in PA:  I LOVE my Skoy Scrubs.  I use them all the time when I'm washing dishes...I haven't bought Brillo Pads in months : )  I use them on my non-stick skillets, my glass bakeware, and my crockpot.  I was totally amazed by the ability for the Skoy Scrub to cut through grease.  I had an older skillet that I've had for probably at least ten years, well it had this really nasty grease build up on the handle that I couldn't seem to get off.  Well the one day I put just a little bit of dish soap on the handle and grabbed a Skoy Scrub and started scrubbing...the build up came right off and it looks like new again : )  Just look at the above pictures to see what a difference it made in my iron-stained bathroom sink.
Now here's why Skoy made our Top Twelve list:  We loved the fact that our Skoy Cloths we got last time were reusable and able to be put directly in the compost when they were worn out.  It's also great that they were created by two stay at home moms (much like mommy in GA and mommy in PA, at the time).

To find out more about Skoy or to get your very own Skoy Cloths or Scrubbers you can head over to their website, facebook, or twitter.

Frame 232

disclaimer:  I received the book below for free from Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

"Frame 232"

by Wil Mara

Hard to believe it's been 50 years...

Mommy in PA:  You hear the phrase Kennedy assassination and what else tends to come to mind...conspiracy theories.   Shelia Baker's mother had a secret, a secret that had slowly eaten her up inside.  Had she not decided to leave work that day and disguise herself as the infamous Babushka Lady, maybe she wouldn't have felt like people were watching her every move from that day on.

Shelia's mother was there that day in Dealey Plaza, video camera in hand, witnessing not only the assassination of our nation's President but also witnessing something that nobody else did.  She would spend the rest of her lifetime hiding that piece of history and passing not only the history down to her daughter but also passing on the anxiety she felt with it.  Should have she destroyed all evidence of it's existance?  Should she have taken it to authorities?  Now her daughter was left with the same choices...

Shelia decides that the best course of action is to look for someone she can trust.  She finds this when reading an article about a billionaire who was becoming quite the sleuth at finding the truth behind high profile mysteries (like the dissapearance of Amelia Earhart).  Would Jason Hammond be able to help her?

This is an excellent book based on an interesting conspiracy theory that came about after the Kennedy assassination.  The author does a great job at letting the reader get to know what makes the characters tick by going into a lot of detail about their past.  For example, Jason is the way he is because he lost his family in a tragic plane crash, leaving his father's fortune to him.

Once you start reading you won't want to put it down.  I personally can't wait to read more of this series, Frame 232 is book one in a suspense series about Jason Hammond.

Be sure to check out the Q&A session with author Wil Mara located here.

UGLee Pen Ergonomic Pen (Review + Giveaway)

disclaimer:  I received the product below for free in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

UGLee Pen

The UGLee Pen is an Ergonomic Pen created by Dr. James Lee.  Dr. Lee was in medical school and was looking for a pen that would relieve his hand fatigue.  When he couldn't find any, he created his own...The UGLee Pen.
It has a comfort grip and finger tip grooves to make writing a lot more comfortable.  It is also refillable and weighs less than half an ounce.

Mommy in PA got a chance to try out the UGLee Pen and here is what she thought:

This is the most comfortable pen I have ever used.  I've never had one with a comfort grip before so it made a huge difference.  I use it all the time and when I can't find it I tend to get a little irritated LOL!  My kids have had me asking them more than once if anyone has seen my UGLee Pen (which by the way, always gets a chuckle).

I've been using my UGLee Pen to fill out my info on the back of my Avon brochures.  This used to require me taking a break or two from my fingers getting sore...not anymore though : )

I also like how they use glitter in the grip to make it look all sparkly, though this could cause issues of parents loosing their UGLee Pens to their children : )

For more info you can check out their website here, facebook, or twitter.  Also be sure to enter below for your chance to win a 3-pack of your very own UGLee Pens!

Ozeri Knife Set

disclaimer:  I received the product below for free in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

Ozeri Elite Chef Black Ceramic 3-Piece Knife Set

Product Manufacturer:  Ozeri

Product Use:  Kitchen Knives

Product Features:  Black Ceramic, perfectly balanced, ergonomic handle, hardness close to diamonds, will not rust or corrode with exposure to moisture.

Price:  $79.99

Misc:  3-piece set that comes in a nice box with an inner tray to keep them in when not in use.  Half the weight of similar sized metal knives.  Set includes 6" chef's knife, 5" slicing knife, and 3" paring knife.  90 day warranty against defects in material or workmanship under normal use and service.

Find out More:  Amazon

Mommy in PA:  I was so happy to get a chance to review these knives.  I have been thrilled with every single Ozeri product that I have reviewed so far and know that they stay true to their word about the quality of their products.  The knives are no exception to that.

The very first thing I noticed when opening the package was how nicely they fit in their very own storage box.  There is a thick foam lining that the knives actually lay down into to keep them from getting damaged.  This comes in very handy for those who do not own a knife block or have theirs filled up already (like me).

These knives not only look awesome but they are super, super light.  I actually used the Chef Knife the one day like a paring knife to peel my potatoes.  I would never have been able to do that with my traditional knives due to the weight and the awkwardness of the handle.

My favorite feature is the fact that the handles are not only ergonomic (believe me, you just have to feel them to believe how comfy these are in your hand) but they are also perfectly balanced (I believe this also adds to the feeling of how light these are).  I have never held a knife more confidently in my lifetime.  They actually make me feel like I know what I'm doing : )

They also cut great too.  With my old kitchen knives I used to have to poke a hole in the tomatoes and then cut out any bad spots but these knives cut right through the skin.  They also work great for cutting block cheeses without the hesitation (maybe from a little bit of build up) I get from my regular knives.

I recommend these knives to anyone of any skill level in the kitchen.  Pros will notice the difference and us more amateur cooks will get a chance to feel more like a pro : )

On a side a note:  It's archery season here in PA and my hubby is very picky when it comes to what knives he will use  when cutting up venison and I've caught him more than once using the Ozeri Knives : )

"Choices and Illusions"

disclaimer:  I received the book below for free from Hay House, Inc.  in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

"Choices and Illusions"
How Did I Get Where I Am, and How Do I Get Where I Want to Be?

By Eldon Taylor

Mommy in PA:  Ever wonder how everything in your life falls into place the way it does?  Are there goals you want to reach but not sure how?  Why are you the way you are?  "Choices and Illusions" attempts to tell us how our mind works and how to get the things we want in life.

I am all about positive thinking right now and have been reading a lot of material about it so this book seemed right up my alley.  I also like the idea of it coming with a Free InnerTalk CD, it seemed like the next step on making my goals a reality.

I was so excited when it came in the mail because I couldn't wait to get started on learning as much as I can about this subject.  I figure the more I know, from as many sources as possible, the better, right?  Well that's what I thought until I started reading.  I literally had to force myself to read the first half of the book.  I'm pretty sure it was just a combination of "I already knew that" and the author's particular writing style that made it seem like it dragged on forever.

Honestly I was expecting more positive thinking and got more of "This is how your brain works at tricking you into thinking this....".  It was more like a course in psychology than a positive thinking breakthrough experience.

All in all the book is very informative about things like optical illusions, the way your mind processes information, people's beliefs and how they came to be, and why people behave the way they do.  It just wasn't what I was looking for at this point in my life (maybe about 15 years ago when I was wanting to go to school for psychology).

As for the Included "InnerTalk CD", it too was not at all what I expected.  It seems to be a disk of just peaceful music.  Which again, makes sense but I figured it may be a version of the book to listen to when you were driving or doing your exercises, not the case.

All in all, this would be a great book for the right person it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Our Top Twelve (again, a little late)

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.

Our Top Twelve for October is...

TruKid

You can see our original post by going here.

Mommy in GA: I got the sunscreen that I reviewed in the last post and we still LOVE it!  the kids continue to stay sunburn free :)
We hope the post provided to be helpful!!  Also we got the stretchy bracelets as well and the kids' LOVE them they still run around playing with them!!

Mommy in PA:  I received the Hero Stick and some of the cute little stretchy bracelets.  The Hero Stick comes in what looks like a giant lip balm tube.  And the consistency is much like a lip balm only a little greasier.  The Hero Stick is used for dry skin, cuts, scrapes, bug bites, eczema, and other skin irritations.

We found that the Hero Stick works very well at relieving the irritation from squirrel scratches.  We are currently rehabilitating two squirrels and when we get them out to clean their cage they love to run all over us, chasing each other...kinda like we are the trees.  Well while they are doing this they need to hold on so they tend to get a little carried away with the claws sometimes.  The last time we had them out Phil and Kay left a few scratch marks on my son's neck that were instantly itchy.  I applied the Hero Stick and within a few minutes he never mentioned them again : )  This also works great for cat scratches too!  I did try it a couple of times with mosquito bites over the summer but it wasn't quite enough to keep me from scratching them.  I wish I would have had some Hero Stick when my son was a baby...he had eczema terribly on his head, this would have come in very handy.

The bracelets they sent were very cute!  Each one has a motivational saying on them and they can double as a hair tie if you're in a pinch.

TruKid has been kind enough to offer our readers a great offer.  See coupon info above.  Just enter code sunnymom during checkout to receive a free Sunny Days Face & Body Stick with your purchase of $30 or more.

Now onto why TruKid made our Top Twelve list...because they care about our kids safety as much as we do.  And they make it quick and easy to protect our kids from harsh chemicals and the sun.

To learn more about TruKid or purchase your own products you can head over to their website, facebook, twitter, or pinterest.

Knork

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.
Knork

Product Manufacturer:  Knork Flatware
Product Use:  They are eating utensils
Product Features:  100% Forged Stainless Steel, dishwasher safe, balanced handles, features a finger platform on the handle to make cutting your food a breeze
Price: varies
Misc:  Limited lifetime warranty, the original Knork was made to take the place of using a separate fork and knife while dining, used by chefs on Top Chef, Rachel Ray loves it, and Wolfgang Puck uses it exclusively for his Los Angeles Food and Wine Event.
Find out More:  www.knork.net, facebook, Pinterest,  or Twitter.
Mommy in GA:  To start off this review I would like to say...... We LOVE to eat!!!  It is not always easy to find utensils sturdy enough to prevail to a second meal with my children in charge!!  The knork line is very sturdy and also easy to use!
When I used to cut up every ones food, my poor plate of food was cold and not very appetizing, with the knorks (not having to worry so much about the sharp knives) my children have become more independent AND mama gets to know what a HOT meal tastes like!!!

Another great thing is that I have never made it a point to buy an ice cream scooper (I have a LOT of bent spoons hanging out in my utensil drawer!!)  SO, when I got the knork utensil line I thought to myself, What a great ice cream spoon!!! Low and behold my knork was in the same shape it was before scooping ice cream!!

One last thing, my kids' ask to use the knorks for EVERY thing they eat!!!  We in Ga LOVE the Knork and look forward to adding more to our collection :)

Mommy in PA:  These are just awesome!!!  Talk about a conversation piece just place these around your dinner table and wait for all the questions : )  But they don't just look good, they work good too (They slice through pork chops with ease).  I will admit they are a tad on the heavy side but that also makes you realize their high quality and know they will last a very long time.
I love that they also give you some very handy tips on the back of the packaging about how to care for your Knorks.  Example: "Never allow flatware to soak in water over night or for long periods of time" - I am SO guilty of this.  I always thought it was better for them to soak so that it was easier to get everything to come off.  Needless to say they have more tips and I need to make sure to start using them : )
My family loved how easy it was to cut meats with the Knorks.   The only downside we found is you have to be really careful about how close to the edge of your plate you sit the Knork when not in use.  Mine decided to dive off my plate when I sat it down...oopsie!
Click here to get a salad Knork to test for yourself for just $5 Shipped!!!

May Books

disclaimer:  We received the products below for free in exchange for our honest opinions.  All opinions remain our own.

May Books

Product Manufacturer:  May Designs

Product Use:  varies

Product Features:  sturdy construction (no more losing pages), personalized (choose from a bunch of different designs), customizable (check out their monogramming), design it just the way you want it (pick from what type of lines you want to what it will be used for).  Eco-friendly covers are also water resistant.

Price:  varies

Misc:  Mica May was a notebook junkie but couldn't find just the right one, so she made her own and the rest is history.

Mommy in GA:  These are really cute!!  I got the ones with my first initail! This is a place I can write down my thoughts or blog stuff or really whatever i wanted to!

Then I got the weekly meal planner!! How did they know I needed to organize my meals better??!!  It gives you a place to plan your dinners for the week and a place to write your grocery list then you have a place to write notes about the meals OR I could use that space for my breakfast and lunches for the weekend
:)

The covers are water resistent so when my kids' pour the COMPLETELY FULL glass of whatever they are drinking and leave it on my countertop, and I reach over it to get what I need and left my book sitting there, WHEN the drink SPILLS we don't have a HUGE issue, just me frustrated that i'Il have to clean ANOTHER mess!!

Mommy in PA:  I LOVE my May Books!  I remember in high school wishing that there was some way to combine the texture of the standard notebooks they gave us at school with the fancier covers of the ones they sold at the store.

The Budget Book is my absolute favorite.  I love keeping things organized and the pages have spots for everything from month to month.  I love that they sent me zebras, this is something I very well may have chosen for myself.

I am still deciding whether to give the monogrammed book to my daughter for school notes or if I will end up using it for my son's book he takes to school to keep track of his glucose numbers (water resistant is great for anything he has...lol).

The note cards are also adorable and I am thinking of ordering some for my Avon business.  They would make great cards to mail out for open house events.  I know I am going to get a lot of good use from these products!

Customizable note books would be a great gift for the holidays!

Mommy in GA: I am not a huge fan of sunscreen (I know tsk tsk especially living in Ga!!)  I don't like the way sunscreen feels or smells, with frownies the greasy feel and the smell of it is actually better than most.

I wasn't totally grossed out when I put this on!!!
The only thing I noticed is, I put this on a few times and sometimes you get little white balls of something that just hang around (you can get them off not a huge deal!) and sometimes it is smooth to put on.

LOL I thought I was imagining things so I called mommy in Pa and asked her about it and she said sometimes it happens to hers also!

Mommy in PA:  I decided to apply the Frownies Sunscreen before mowing my grass.  I was wearing a tank top so I applied it to my chest, arms and shoulders.  It has a mildly greasy feel to it but it isn't as bad as some other sunscreens I've tried.  The scent isn't the greatest but it smells a lot better than those ones that smell like chemicals.  What I didn't care for was that it left white flecks of stuff all over that I just couldn't stand.  I ended up using a paper towel to try to get most of them off.  The product performed well though and I didn't get burnt.  So all in all the product performed well but I didn't care for the extra time involved in removing all of the flecks of stuff from my skin.
