"The Hidden Truth Behind Beautiful Smiles"
by Zack Zaibak, MS, DDS
This book starts out explaining how Zack Zaibak, MS, DDS went from being a child who loved to tinker with things (his dad always said he was good with his hands) to "Chicago's Premier Dentist".
He didn't just stop when he had the dental license either. He always keeps striving for more so that he can bring his patients the best and newest procedures to make them love how they look.
Zack realizes that when a person's smile isn't what they want it to be that it can affect them in a lot of ways. People suffer with relationships, work, and success just because their smiles aren't what others think they should be. Well Zack shows us in the book that there are many options out there to fix your smile.
Zack also explains how he understands why people are afraid of dentists. People are always assuming that a trip to the dentist means pain. He takes the time to explain the different ways that dentists can make most procedures nearly painless.
Here is a list of the main topics discussed in the book: Lumineers, Invisalign, Zoom 2 Whitening, Bridges, Crowns, Bonding, Snap-On Smiles, and Gum Lifts. He also has chapters dedicated to checkups, dental care, gum disease prevention, and whole body care.
Well now that Mommy in GA and Mommy in PA have had a chance to read the book here is our thoughts:
Mommy in GA: This book had a LOT of great information ranging from all kinds of different types of dental work such as lumineers veneers and invisalign braces just to name a few, Teeth whitening was also included.
I enjoyed reading about how he got started and I love seeing the before and after pictures (as mommy in Pa also mentions) it is amazing how different the people look with a little dental work and they look more confident and happy in the after photo!!
I got lucky I never really minded going to the dentist (although I do wish my teeth would stay a little whiter!!) but, also my kids' like to go to the dentist which makes me hope they are paying attention and learning the right way to take care of their teeth (So far so good!! Very few cavities!!)
Mommy in PA: This was a very good book. I know, I know a lot of you were probably thinking it was a horror book...LOL. I too remember always being terrified of the dentist (sweaty palms and all). Now my daughter is just like me when it comes to going to the dentist and a couple of years ago we were told that she had the beginning stages of Gingivitis. Well after reading this book I totally understand how it happened and what we can do to reverse it before it is too late.
My favorite part of the book was when he explains to you why it hurts so much when your dentist injects the Novocain, it isn't actually the needle that causes the most pain...it's actually the pressure from the Novocain itself going into your gums that does it. Now they actually have machines that help keep the pressure more stable and it hurts a lot less.
My daughter's least favorite part of dental visits is the cleaning. The reason for this is she hates the pick they use to go around the gum line, it always ends up hurting her. Well thanks to the book we now know there is actually a machine out there called an ultrasonic cleaner that uses vibrating waves of energy to create high energy bubbles that are effective at removing the plaque without the pain.
I also love how they have a lot of before and after pictures in the book. It's amazing to see what lumineers can do : )
