Washing Wednesday

HOMEMADE LIQUID LAUNDRY DETERGENT

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Borax
Bar Soap
Washing Soda
Liquid Castile Soap
Glycerin
Essential Oil (optional)
5-gallon plastic container with a lid

DIRECTIONS
Measure 1 cup Borax (found in laundry section of most local grocers) with 4 cups of water i a 2 qt. saucepan.  Add one bar of finely grated soap (choose your preferred scent of soap adn you can use a cheese grater to grate your cheese!!)  the soap you choose will be the basis of your laundry detergent so if you have sensitive skin try less perfumed soap and if you have a lot of stains or oders you should try a stonger deoterant based soap.  Turn your oven burner on medium heat to bring your mixture to a simmer to dissolve the borax adn bar soap.  After the borax and bar soap dissolve remove your saucepan from the burner and add 1/2 cup washing soda (also found in the laundry aisle of most grocers) allowing the mixture to cool back to room temperature.  Add a 1/4 cup glycerine and 1/2 cup liquid castile soap to the mixture and stir.
Pour your entire mixture into your 5-gallon bucket and add 3 gallons of cool water to the mixture...your mixture will be cloudy and watery.  Cover your mixture with an air tight lid and let sit for 24 hours, after the 24 hours your liqiud laundry detergent will be ready for use!!  use 1/2 cup of detergent for normal loads and 1 full cup for larger or heavier duty loads.  You can also add 7-8 drops of your favorite essential oil to trademark your detergent.
