"Meant to Be Mine"

disclaimer:  I received the following book for free from Bethany House in exchange for my honest opinions.  All opinions remain my own.

"Meant to Be Mine"
by Becky Wade

The novel is about a woman named Celia.  Celia had a huge crush on Ty Porter back when they were in high school and now they've met again in Vegas.  They hang out for a few days and Ty ends up talking her into getting married.  The next morning, Celia is just getting used to the thought of being Mrs. Ty Porter when out of the blue Ty tells her that he is in love with another woman and that the whole marriage was a big mistake.  He is in love with a woman named Tawny that he knew as far back as elementary school.  He believes that he and Tawny are meant to be together but she wasn't ready to get married.  Celia and Ty go their separate ways...Celia to Oregon and Ty (back to Tawny) in Holley, Texas.

Five years pass.  Celia is living in Oregon with her almost five year old daughter, Addie.  The only one of her family members that she has any real contact with is her uncle Danny (a surfer type) who moved to Oregon to help her out.  Ty (now a professional bull rider) is hanging out with some buddies in Vegas when they pass the wedding chapel that he and Celia were married at.  He begins to wonder what ever happened to Celia so he searches her name on the internet and lo and behold she is still using his last name.  Ty heads to Oregon to finally take care of things so that he can move on.

What he finds when he gets to Oregon is a little more than he bargained for.  Not only was Celia still using his last name but also raising his daughter that he had no idea even existed.

What will happen between Celia and Ty?  Will Addie want anything to do with her daddy?  What will Tawny think of all of this?  I guess you'll just have to read to find out : )

Mommy in PA:  I LOVED this book.  The author was great at describing the scenes right down to what the people were wearing.  It made it super easy to imagine the scene in my head.  I love the fact that there is so many other things going on in the story too.  It's not your typical romance where everything is about the couple and their relationship.  There's Uncle Danny who is a funny character who lovingly calls Celia "C" all the time, you can just tell how close they are.  There's the Porter family which all have their own little quirks.  There's the "Cream or Sugar" Bakery where Celia ends up working.

The relationship between Ty and Celia is a love/hate type relationship so you have a lot of sarcasm and funny remarks throughout which just added more likeability to their characters.  I also love the fact that Celia is a very overprotective mother which totally makes sense since she had been raising Addie pretty much alone (except for help from Uncle Danny) for almost five years.  You can just tell that the author put a lot of thought into each one of the character's personalities.

There is just so much more I want to say about the book but I don't want to end up giving any of the good stuff away.  I would totally read another book based on these characters.  I am totally hooked now.  I also mentioned to my husband that I could totally see this being a movie someday : )
