So we just got done celebrating our first year as bloggers so we decided that we should come up with a great way to spread the word about our favorite products from the past year...hence, Our Top 12! This month we bring to you Newman's Own Organics...
Here is what mommy in GA and mommy in PA received for the review
Newman's Own Organics was one of the very first companies that we had the pleasure of blogging about. We were so happy to get a chance to try all of the products and let yall know what we thought about them. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, or for those who need a refresher, you can find our original post here.
This time Newman's Own Organics sent us another great variety of products that we have listed below:
Pretzels
We received the Unsalted Pretzel Rounds, the Honey Wheat Pretzel Minis, the High Protein Pretzels, and the Spelt Pretzels.
Mommy in PA says: The Unsalted Rounds were a little on the bland side but sorta reminded me of the soft pretzels at the mall. All of us liked the Honey Wheat ones which really had a pleasant sweetness to them (although my son said he could hardly taste them), the Spelt Pretzels were very similar to other pretzels (my son and I thought they were great), and the High Protein Pretzels were our favorite (We all agreed these were the best).
Family Recipe Cookies
We received the Double Chocolate Chip Cookies and the NEW Spelt Ginger Snap Cookies.
Mommy in PA says: The Double Chocolate Chip Cookies were liked by all but especially my 8 year old. He said he "Loved" them. The Ginger Snap Cookies got mixed reviews, my daughter and I don't really care for them but my son said he loved them and thought they tasted just like the ginger snaps he had at school.
Chocolate and Chocolate Cups
Mommy in GA says: This part of the review was for the kids, I am not a huge chocolate fan...I like milk chocolate sometimes but have to be in the mood for it, I know what kind of woman am I??!! Anyway the results came in and the Mocha Milk Chocolate was a huge hit with everyone (me included!) I did not try the Dark Chocolate but the kids' REALLY liked the Peanut Butter and they opened the Raspberry but, were grossed out by the filling. Do not deprive your taste buds of this delicious chocolate based on our limited pallets!!
Mommy in PA says: Chocolate is always a big hit at our house and the New Chocolate Cups didn't let us down! My son and I both loved the raspberry ones and had never had anything quite like them. The peanut butter ones were good too but wish the dark chocolate didn't cover the peanut butter taste as much. The Mocha Milk Chocolate Bar really surprised me. My daughter typically likes things that taste like coffee or anything like it but she did not like the bar, said it tasted like dark chocolate to her. I on the other hand don't care that much for mocha flavor but thought it was pretty good. My son said it tasted kinda good.
Fig Newman's
We received the Low Fat Fig Newman's.
Mommy in GA says: The kids' said these were ok but, not really their thing but, that is ok because I got to finish the package alone! (don't worry people it took several days to do so!!!)
Mommy in PA says: I thought these were pretty good, they don't taste like a low fat cookie at all. My son said they were very good and my daughter wouldn't even try them.
Pop's Corn
We received the Light Butter Pop's Corn.
Mommy in GA says:Pop's corn really surprised us because it is just as good if not better than other pop corn and the name is A LOT cuter! The kids' popped a bag and we ate it and they asked for more right away!
Mommy in PA says: Who loves popcorn? We love popcorn! And Pop's Corn was no exception. My daughter wouldn't eat any because she does not like popcorn. That was fine with my son and me cause the more the better. The Pop's Corn tasted delicious. My son did keep looking for the pieces that had more butter on them though...lol.
Alphabet Cookies
We received the Cinnamon Graham Alphabet Cookies and the Chocolate Alphabet Cookies.
Mommy in GA says:apparently their mouths were too full to rave about the product as they were very quiet and when I looked in the kitchen to try these they were mysteriously gone!
Mommy in PA says: The Alphabet Cookies were liked by all. I especially liked the Cinnamon Graham ones and my son said they tasted just like graham crackers. I also like the fact that they can spell stuff with the cookies. My son got an N and a P and he said "Look, it means No Problem"...and we had no problem eating these cookies!
Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil
We received the Balsamic Vinegar and the Olive Oil.
Mommy in GA says:I did not get a chance to try the Balsamic Vinegar BUT, did get to fry a Pork chop in the Olive Oil and I just have to say, it was Delicious!!! I tasted the one I fixed in veggie oil and I ate the one from the Olive Oil and I hardly noticed a flavor difference!! The Olive oil Pork chop seemed to be a little less greasy and it is obviously more healthy than the vegetable oil.
Mommy in PA says: I had never tried Balsamic Vinegar before but it sounded interesting and I know a lot of people use it so I was willing to give it a whirl. I got out some lettuce and put some on it and...Yuck...Balsamic Vinegar is not for me!
We received the Black Tea.
Mommy in GA says: I used the Royal Black Tea to make Sweet Iced Tea and I have had to make a new batch daily since we opened the box of tea bags! My oldest daughter, My 4 year old son and myself REALLY like it!
Mommy in PA says: My daughter and I were the only ones who tried the tea and my daughter couldn't get over how good the tea bags smelled. It also made very good hot tea.
Dried Fruit
We received the Prunes and Apples.
Mommy in PA says: I am the only one who would try the dried fruit. The prunes were good but I did not care for the apples.
Hermits
We received the Ginger Hermits.
Mommy in GA says: We liked the Hermits a lot, they did not last long either although my 4 year old said: "ugh, mommy these are SPICY!!!"
Mommy in PA says: These were delicious! My daughter was too chicken to try them because she has a fear of raisins...lol. My son and I both agreed that these were very good.
Licorice
We received the Sour Cherry Licorice, the Sour Apple Licorice, the Sour Mango Licorice, and the Sour Strawberry Licorice.
Mommy in GA says: Okay well we saved the best for last because the licorice was a special request by the kids' for the kids'!! They absolutely LOVE all of the flavors!! and it tastes a lot better than the competing licorice companies :)
Mommy in PA says: Licorice was a big hit! The Sour Apple and the Sour Strawberry were the most favored.
Pet Products
We received the Medium Dental Bones and the Beef and Barley and Lamb and Barley New Zealand Ranch Style Dog Treats.
Mommy in GA says: Big Red (our min pin and yes, the kids' picked his name!) LOVED all of the treats so much that he can not decide, I ask if he wants a treat and he runs to me and wags' his tale no matter which snack bag I grab!!!
Mommy in PA says: Archie and T-Bone LOVE the dog treats. T-Bone devours them and Archie likes to give us that doggie look that says "Can I really have this, you are really giving this great food to me?"
Here is Archie getting ready to chew on his Dental Bone!

So why did Newman's Own Organics make our top 12 list? Well that is pretty easy to tell. They made us realize that organic foods aren't really all that different than what we are used to and often times better.
