Mommy in PA: My daughter and I were like two kids waiting for Christmas when we were waiting for our package to arrive.
My daughter is hair obsessed at this point so what better time to get an opportunity like this : ) These styling tools didn't stand a chance, we opened all of them up right away and started planning what we were going to try first...her choice was the 2-way rotating iron...mine was the Tulip. After tying them all here are our findings:
Hair Types (So you can compare which products may work best for you)
Mommy in PA: Shoulder length, fine/thin hair
Please keep in mind that we did not use any styling products at all in our hair during these photos so that we could give you a more realistic expectation.
Mommy in PA's daughter: Long, thick/med hair
The INSTYLER Ionic Styler Pro
Mommy in PA: This one is my favorite for getting nice loose curls and volume. It is very simple to use and I didn't burn myself once...LOL. I do have to mention that I had it stuck in my hair a couple of times but my daughter helped me get it out before things got too intense : ) You just have to be careful when you are wrapping your hair around the barrel. This one actually felt the best in my hand too, not awkward at all.
Mommy in PA's daughter: Not enough heat for my hair : ( I just don't think it heats up enough for my thicker hair, may work ok for those with fine hair though.
The INSTYLER MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron
Mommy in PA: This one was awesome for straightening my hair, from the time I plugged in the styler until my hair was straight was just a tad over five minutes (this is one of those times when fine/thin hair has its benefits). I love that it has the brush part on it because it really helps to make your hair smooth and shiny. Having the barrel double as a curler is an excellent idea but I didn't like using it as well as the Ionic Styler Pro for making curls because it just didn't feel comfortable using it that way.
Mommy in PA's daughter: The only thing I didn't care for was that the brush part actually seemed to make my hair frizzier. I prefer a straightener that is just that...a straightener.
The INSTYLER Tulip Auto Curler
Mommy in PA: This one really made me sad...well it wasn't the curler's fault...just my hair's : ( My hair evidently does not like to curl...well it tried at times but even on the tight curl setting the best I got was waves : ( I even had my daughter and husband try to make it work but we all epically failed. My husband said he thinks for people with fine hair there needs to be something in there to help hold the hair against the barrel because my hair just kept loosening up and not getting completely heated. I also have to say that I personally was not very good at using this myself either, guess I am not that coordinated as my daughter had no issues doing her own. It just felt awkward to me.
First attempt
Mommy in PA's daughter: Once we got it figured out I actually liked it. It was really easy for me to make curls in my hair.
