Football For Females

The Women's Survival Guide to the Football Season

By: Teresa Saucedo-Artino

So with football season starting last Wednesday, I figured now would be a great time to do a review on a book all about football.  So this week we will be checking out "Football For Females:  The Women's Survival Guide to the Football Season" by Teresa Saucedo-Artino.  I just have to mention how much her last name reminds me of a football players last name.  It would have been awesome if she would have gotten her name put on a jersey and used that on the cover.

I already know my fair share about football but figured this book may fill in some of the spaces.  The first chapter made me hesitant to read the rest of the book.  The first 15 pages are all vocabulary terms and their definitions.  In my opinion I would have put this part at the back of the book as a reference section.  It was very informative though and I did learn a thing or two out of just that chapter alone.  I also learned that Teresa had a nice way of mixing the boring football lingo with comparisons to our everyday lives (like serving dinner) to make it more entertaining.  She made a lot of good comparisons that I'm sure will make it easier for most people to learn at least the basics of how football works.

She goes into a lot of detail in this book.  I was surprised that she even went as far as telling us about the different football officials.  This was one section I admit I didn't know very well at all.  I guess other than yelling at them for "bad calls" I usually just don't pay that much attention to them.

So all in all this is a very informative reference book for football season for any woman (or any man for that matter).  Just remember that this isn't really the kind of book you want to try to read from start to finish for entertainment.

The only problem I see with the book is that she will have to write new ones every few years due to rules changing from time to time.

Disclaimer:  I received the above book for free in exchange for my honest review but that had no effect on my opinions.
