Valor Chocolates
Valor Chocolates has been around for over 130 years. They started out as a small family owned business and have grown to be Spain's largest chocolate company. They specialize in a sugar-free chocolate that taste like their traditional chocolates (Stevia is the key). They use cocoa beans from Ecuador, Panama, and Ghana to get their distinct flavor, along with whole Marcona almonds.
It is amazing how this company started. Valeriano Lopez started selling his family's homemade chocolates in 1881. He would travel via mule all around Eastern and Central Spain. Valeriano's son took over the family business in the late 19th century and replaced the old stome mill with a mechanical mill and mules with horse-drawn carriages to up production and sales volume. Today, Valor is one of the largest Spanish chocolate companies, making over ten thousand tons of chocolate a year.
Mommy in GA and mommy in PA got the opportunity to try a sampling of Valor Chocolates and here are our thoughts:
We received the following bars (Valor Sugar Free Dark Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds, Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds, Valor Sugar Free 72% Dark Chocolate w/ Cocoa Nibs, and Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Hazelnut Mousse.
Mommy in GA: These are one of THE best chocolates I have ever had!!!!!!
We got Valor Sugar Free Dark Chocolatewith Marcona Almonds, Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Macrona Almonds, Valor Sugar Free 72 % Dark Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs and Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Hazelnut Mousse.
My favorite was, well I am not going to lie I REALLY liked all of them! This really surprised me because I normally do not like Dark Chocolate at all BUT, My ABSOLUTE favorite was the Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate with Marcona Almonds.
The kids' enjoyed ALL of them and each of the 4 picked a different one as their favorite so you could say they are ALL a favorite in our house :) Best part is NONE of the kids realized the lack of sugar and that is saying something!!!

Mommy in PA: These were absolutely delicious. My favorite was the Valor No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate w/ Marcona Almonds. My daughter preferred the one with the Hazelnut because she isn't a huge fan of nuts in candy bars. My son's favorite was the Sugar-Free ones because of how low in carbs they were. For once he was actually able to have a whole candy bar for his bedtime snack (he is only allowed 24 carbs) so this worked out great.
There was one thing that surprised me though...my son did not care for the dark chocolate with nibs. He actually traded part of his candy bar for some pretzels.

I just couldn't get over how great the dark chocolate tasted and how the Sugar Free and No Sugar Added varieties tasted just like there was real sugar in there. You don't get that nasty aftertaste like you do from all other sugar-free food items. Stevia must really taste like real sugar : )
