Check out those snazzy stripes...not only are they functional non-slip grip but also a fashion statement : )
Mommy in PA: On my husband's birthday we had decided to do some burgers on the grill. We all got a little sidetracked when my son was having some issues with his 4-wheeler and we were all trying to give him a hand when I noticed that something didn't seem right about the grill. I slowly started opening the lid and all I could see was orange...I closed it instantly and told my husband. When he opened the grill there were flames everywhere and by the time he was able to get the burgers they were pretty much all burnt to a crisp. Rock hard burgers for his birthday : (
You're probably wondering why I started out this review with that story, right? Well when I saw these gloves on Tomoson I realized that these would have been just what we needed to save the day. I didn't hesitate for a minute to request these to try.
As usual I was a little concerned about the one size fits all issue but they fit nicely. Just a smidge big in the palm area but fits great in the fingers. And they look pretty cool too with all of the strips of non-slip grip : )
So of course I had to try them out right away so I baked up some of my daughter's favorite buffalo chicken dip. See photo below.
I would normally use my potholders to grab just the handles of this baking dish making an accident much more likely, but with the Super Gloves it didn't matter how I held onto the dish.
The gloves worked wonderfully and I was able to keep my hands on the hot baking dish for a lot longer than I would have been able to do with my normal potholders. And I didn't have to worry about it slipping out of my hands either. While the buffalo chicken dip was still in the oven I also noticed my favorite feature of all...these gloves have handy loops for hanging them up...how brilliant is that?!?! I don't have a lot of room in my kitchen drawers so I tend to hang up my potholders and my strainer by the sink, well needless to say...my strainer has a new pair of neighbors : )
Another test I did with the gloves was to test their gripping ability. I always hated it when I was trying to transfer hot food from one pan to another (especially sauces) because sometimes the pans are too smooth and slippery to do the tip, pour, and scrape method (it almost takes two people sometimes). Well with the Super Gloves I was able to hold my hot pan and scoop and scrape all of my sauce onto my pasta in the baking dish with ease...no slipping!!!
I'm sure that these gloves will come in handy for years to come...and they will be waiting for me right beside my strainer.
